Six generations celebrate at Van Buren

Once upon a time… there was a man called Sjoerd van Buren in Oosterlittens, a village south-east of Leeuwarden.
He separated wool from hide and traded both as semi-finished products – quite a feat in the mid-19th century.
In 1903 the family business moved to Bolsward, where it is still based today. With each new generation, the horizon widened. After Sjoerd came Rients senior, then Thomas, then Johannes, after which Rients junior and now also Jolt took the helm. Each of them saw the world change: new techniques, new markets, new applications.
