‘TOGETHER WE STAND STRONG’

Interview with Glenn De Maeseneer, director of Meubelbeurs Brussel

‘This year we can speak of a very good occupancy,’ says Glenn De Maeseneer, director of Meubelbeurs Brussel. ‘All halls are full, with the exception of two stands of 56 square metres each,’ Glenn adds. So there is a certain enthusiasm in the offices in Anderlecht, not least because this year the organising team did not really have to push and pull to win over a few last players as the deadline approached. A good two months ago, the fair was already 95 percent full. Glenn: ‘The reason we can really present good figures is that we have loyal, returning exhibitors. Our base is strong, with more than 80 percent returning.’

Alongside the many familiar names that will present their latest models in early November, there are plenty of newcomers. And not just any: brands such as Niehoff, Wersal, Willi Schillig and Calia Italia, well-known players from Italy, Germany and Poland, but also from Denmark, ‘where we notice interest in our fair and in our visitors.’ How did the recruitment go? ‘We talked to a lot of people at home and abroad and told them our story. Many were already interested in showing their new products at Meubelbeurs Brussel, but needed that final push to sign. Some players also came to us spontaneously. Apparently word is going round in the industry that Meubelbeurs Brussel is a fixture in the trade fair landscape and worth the effort to do business and meet new customers. We have been able to present good figures in recent years, and it looks promising for the coming edition.’
